Pit Bull Heroes: Phoebe the Pit Bull Saves Abandoned Kitten
by Matt Miner
Too often our media is quick to jump on the bandwagon, depicting our beloved pit bull companions as "dangerous", "menacing" and "violent." News stories about tragic, but isolated incidents of attacks are blasted over the front pages while stories like this one are buried and get no press.
Enter Phoebe, the pit bull hero who saved a tiny kitten from death after the cat was discarded in a pile of trash.
To those of us who have beloved pit bulls in our families, this story comes as no surprise. After all, we see how caring and nurturing these animals are every single day, and would expect and receive nothing less than selfless heroism from our family dogs in a situation that warranted it.
To the general public, however, stories like this one are never seen, as the media loves nothing more than to demonize our dogs to sell papers and generate web page hits.
Stories like Phoebe the pit bull's are in fact not uncommon, and are a good argument against BSL. For her kind act Phoebe is now added to our Pit Bull Heroes hall of fame. Way to go Phoebe!
